Automated Packaging Systems is celebrating its 30th year of manufacturing in the UK. Quality Project Manager Ruth Butler has been part of the team for 29 years and has seen the business grow.

When did you start at Automated Packaging Systems?
I joined Automated Packaging Systems one year after it was established in the UK. I always think I was in the right place at the right time as I didn’t see any progression in my old job.  As soon as I started, management took an interest and helped me to develop a career.

As I write this, the UK economy is looking pretty rosy, boasting the leading growth forecast for the EU, and the Automated Packaging Systems order books are full, giving us some really positive challenges at the start of a new year.

But it’s not just any new year – 2014 will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of our company’s UK manufacturing facility. From its lowly days as a very small unit in the Herefordshire market town of Ledbury, Automated Packaging Systems UK has evolved into the purpose-built 200,000 sq ft European headquarters, which is now located in Malvern, Worcestershire.
