A leading supplier of individual portion packs of fruit and vegetables for schools approached Automated Packaging Systems when it needed to step-up productivity to meet a growing demand.

Previously the company hand-packed products with an operation involving up to 20 employees but now, using the FAS SPrint, it bags 30,000 units a day with a team of three operators.

With the capacity to operate at speeds of up to 100 bags per minute the FAS SPrint packs over two million portions of fruit and vegetables every year. The increase in capacity has allowed the company to actively grow the business, bagging portion packs of sliced oranges, melon, grapes, strawberries, tomatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, cucumbers, courgette, carrots and celery.
