PPMA 2006, Stand F131 – 26th September 2006 - Automated Packaging Systems, a world leader in packaging equipment, has announced the new Autobag® AB 255 OneStep wide bagging system for flexible, order fulfilment and short-run packaging operations, resulting in a faster, streamlined process that reduces cycle time and packing costs.
Specifically developed, the AB 255 OneStep provides a fully integrated large bagging and labelling process ideal for mail order fulfilment and a wide range of packaging, shipping, dispatch and fulfilment applications. In an integrated process, the AB 255 OneStep interfaces with shipping and customer databases, then imprints shipping label data directly onto the appropriate bag as it is indexed into the loading position. The printed, loaded bag is sealed and detached for a fast, efficient and accurate print, pack and ship operation. This optimised process completely eliminates the need for a separate labelling operation, saving on materials and process time.
Commenting on the new product introduction Paul Hayden, european marketing manager at Automated Packaging Systems, Malvern, said, ”Mail order and fulfilment is a fast growing sector. Working with our key customers, we developed the OneStep system based on our flagship Autobag AB 255 Wide Bagger, where the OneStep prints and indexes in a single-step - virtually eliminating bag waste and product queuing. Using our Autobag pre-formed bags on a roll, changeovers can also be achieved in less than two minutes, significantly increasing packaging productivity and reducing waste and downtime.”
Comprising the successful and proven Autobag AB 255 Wide Bagger and PI 412c Imprinter platforms to provide an inline, 1:1 ‘Print-n-Pack’ bagging system, the OneStep operates at speeds up to 20 bags per minute, printing high-resolution information up to 30cms per second. The wide bagger facility is suitable for all applications that require a bag up to 400mm wide, and is ideally suited to the mail order, direct mail and fulfillment industries as well as spare parts distribution. The AutoTouch™ control screen utilises intuitive software and simple menu navigation for easy job set-up, job storage and job recall for rapid changeovers.
“We aim to set new standards with our ‘Print-n-Pack’ order fulfilment technology to further improve the productivity of the packaging operation. Eliminating the need for a separate labelling operation leads to reduced operational costs and faster throughput,” Paul Hayden added.
